Cartridge Filters

Cartridge Filters

📝 Machine Overview

Cartridge Filtration Systems are precision-engineered assemblies designed for high-efficiency particulate removal and clarification of liquids and gases. Utilizing disposable or cleanable filter elements housed within robust pressure vessels, they provide superior filtration fineness, high flow rates per unit area, and are essential for applications demanding critical purity, sterility, or ultra-fine particle control. Our cartridge filter systems are engineered for maximum performance, reliability, and ease of maintenance in the most demanding process environments.

  • Process Water & Ultrapure Water (UPW): Final polishing for electronics, pharmaceuticals, and power generation.

  • Sterile Filtration: Final filtration of pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, and beverages.

  • Chemical Processing: Clarification of aggressive acids, solvents, and high-purity chemicals.

  • Hydraulic & Lube Oil Protection: High-pressure offline or inline filtration to maintain fluid cleanliness to ISO codes.

  • Food & Beverage: Final clarity filtration of wines, spirits, juices, and edible oils.

  • Compressed Air & Gas: Removal of oil aerosols, water, and particulates from instrument and process air.

  • Fuel Polishing: Protecting engines and turbines by removing water and particulates from diesel and other fuels.

  • Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology

  • Microelectronics & Semiconductor

  • Food & Beverage

  • Chemical & Petrochemical

  • Power Generation (Nuclear, Thermal)

  • Marine & Offshore

  • Aerospace & Aviation

  • Industrial Machinery

The system operates via surface or depth filtration, depending on the cartridge type. Fluid enters the pressure housing and is forced through the porous media of the cartridge. Contaminants are retained on the outer surface or within the matrix of the media, while the clean filtrate flows through the cartridge’s inner core and exits the housing. Cartridges can function as absolute filters (retaining 100% of particles above their rated size) or nominal filters, with efficiency defined by beta ratios (e.g., βₓ≥1000).

  • By Filter Media & Construction:

    • Pleated Membrane Cartridges: For absolute, sterile-grade filtration (0.1 – 10 µm). Often used in final polishing and sterility assurance.

    • Pleated Depth Cartridges: Use microglass or synthetic media for high dirt-holding capacity and extended life in pre-filtration (1 – 75 µm).

    • Wound/String-Wound Cartridges: Cost-effective depth filters using yarn (polypropylene, cotton) for general purpose pre-filtration (5 – 150 µm).

    • Sintered Metal & Ceramic Cartridges: For high-temperature, aggressive chemical service; cleanable and reusable.

    • Activated Carbon Cartridges: For removal of chlorine, organics, and odors via adsorption.

  • By Housing Design & Function:

    • Single-Cartridge Housings: For low to medium flow rates or pilot-scale operations.

    • Multi-Cartridge Vessels (Multiples): Standardized housings holding 3, 5, 7, 12, 21, or more cartridges for high-flow industrial applications.

    • Sanitary (Tri-Clamp) Housings: Polished stainless steel designs with CIP/SIP capabilities for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical use.

    • Tandem (Duplex) Filter Systems: Two housings with a common manifold and valve system allowing continuous operation; one housing can be serviced while the other filters.

" Advanced Technical Features "

Core Features
  1. High Efficiency & Absolute Retention: Engineered for critical applications with absolute ratings and validated bacterial retention (LRV ≥7) where required.

  2. Maximum Dirt-Holding Capacity: Optimized pleat geometry and media selection maximize surface area, extending service life and reducing change frequency.

  3. Robust, Leak-Free Housing: Precision-machined sealing surfaces (double o-ring, flat gasket, or sanitary ferrule) ensure zero bypass under all operating conditions.

  4. Easy, Contained Change-Out: Top-access design with vent and drain valves allows for safe, clean cartridge replacement, minimizing fluid loss and exposure.

  5. Material Integrity & Compatibility: All wetted materials are selected for chemical compatibility and low extractables, critical for sensitive processes.

  6. Validation & Documentation Support: For regulated industries, cartridges are supplied with full certification (Material Certificates, DOP Test Reports, FDA Letters) and housings are designed to support integrity testing protocols.

  • Superior Purity Assurance: Unmatched ability to deliver sterile or ultra-clean fluids, protecting sensitive downstream processes and ensuring final product quality.

  • Optimized Total Cost of Filtration: High flow-per-cartridge and extended service life reduce the number of housings and change-outs, lowering labor and disposal costs.

  • System Design Flexibility: A universal range of housings and a vast selection of cartridge media allow for a perfectly tailored solution for any fluid, pressure, and cleanliness requirement.

  • Reduced Operational Risk: Built-in safety features (pressure relief, proper venting) and validation-ready design mitigate process and compliance risks in regulated environments.

  • Global Technical Support: Access to filtration experts for media selection, system design, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.

Installation requires proper support, inlet/outlet piping with isolation valves, and vent/drain connections for safe servicing. Critical to performance is proper cartridge installation (ensuring seals are seated) and establishing a change-out schedule based on differential pressure (ΔP) or throughput. We provide installation guidance, integrity testing procedures, and operational training.
